Unlike the previous trailers, this one does a good job of establishing a lot of the characters. And even though Battle Los Angeles covers a genre and a topic that’s been explored to death, we’re still interested in seeing what the film has to offer. Official Synopsis:

| Directors Guild TV Nominees – Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, Glee Posted: 11 Jan 2011 04:27 PM PST On Monday the Directors Guild of America announced their nominees for the best helmers in film. Today, they’ve unveiled their finalists in the television category and just like in movies, there’s some stiff competition. How do you choose between “The Walking Dead” and “Boardwalk Empire?” How about “Modern Family” and “Glee?” We’re not sure but someone’s going to have to do it. Check out the full list of nominees below…
And the nominees are… Dramatic Series
Comedy Series
Movies for Television and Mini-Series
Reality Programs
Is there a doubt in anyone’s mind that “Boardwalk Empire” will walk away as the winner in the Best Drama Directing category? Seriously? We love the finale of “Lost” like everyone else but every episode of “Boardwalk” looks like a segment from Goodfellas. It has a very cinematic quality to it, which probably stems from the precedent that Martin Scorsese set with the pilot. You can check out the rest of the nominees at the official DGA website. Who do you think will walk away with top honors? Related Posts |
| Andrew Garfield on Playing Spider-Man and Wearing the Suit Posted: 11 Jan 2011 03:48 PM PST Andrew Garfield has come a long way from his early days of acting across the pond. The U.K. native has landed several high profile gigs over the past year that have placed him in Hollywood’s forefront. He has a Golden Globe nomination under his belt, he’s being considered for BAFTA’s Rising Star Award, and did we forget to mention that he’s Spider-Man? Garfield recently revealed that his predecessor Tobey Maguire had given him his stamp of approval to take over as the webslinger, and we all know that with great power comes great responsibility.
Garfield knows that playing a Marvel superhero is a huge deal. The original Spider-Man trilogy broke records and catapulted the careers of its stars. The actor feels the pressure and wants people to know that he understands the seriousness of his task.
That was taken from Garfield’s interview in the latest issue of Details, which he appears on the cover of. When speaking to London’s Capital FM, the actor revealed that when he put on the Spider-Man suit for the first time he got a little misty eyed.
Oh Andrew, he’s so humble! But then again, who thought Maguire was going to look as great as he did when he wore the suit for the first time? To each his own. Spider-Man is scheduled to hit theaters on July 3, 2012. Do you think that Garfield will be able to pull off the Spider-Man look? Source: Digital Spy Related Posts |
| Justin Bieber Returning to CSI Posted: 11 Jan 2011 03:02 PM PST Justin Bieber and his side-swept bangs will be back for another episode of the hit CBS drama “CSI.” The singer-sometimes-actor released a tweet on Tuesday stating, “…back to my evil ways,” which pushed his group of devoted followers into a tizzy. What he was alluding to was his reprisal of his role as Jason McCann, the troubled juvenile who appeared on the series back in September.
Bieber has been on the set of “CSI” this week filming his scenes for the upcoming episode, “Targets of Obsession.” The last time we saw him (Jason), he was part of a government group that was hell bent on rejecting authority and all of its rules. His brother was killed by the CSI team, and his father figure was arrested but his outcome was left a mystery. We’ll find out what really happened to Jason when he pops up on the episode airing on February 17, just in time for sweeps! Do you know what else Bieber has coming out in February? His 3D concert-biopic Never Say Never is scheduled to hit theaters on February 11. Can anyone stop this kid (someone please do)? What do you think of Bieber’s return to CSI? Will you be watching? | Lena Headey Cast as Judge Dredd Villain? Posted: 11 Jan 2011 02:03 PM PST The new take on the comic character Judge Dredd is well on its way. The first photo from the film was released in November and it showed actor Karl Urban as the judge, jury, and executioner himself. Other than that, we haven’t heard much about the production or the rest of the cast, that is, until now. Over at the fansite, Judge Dredd Movie News, they claim that British actress Lena Headey has signed on to play the villain.
According to their sources, Headey will star as Madeline Madrigal AKA Ma-Ma, and she’ll be the main bad guy in the movie. They went on to say that she began filming her scenes last week. If you have no idea who Headey is allow us to introduce you to her. She’s best know for her roles as Queen Gorgo in Zack Snyder’s 300, and Sarah Connor on the defunct Fox series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.” We’re not sure if Headey’s casting is to believed because no official announcement has been made, but if she is involved we’re excited for her. She was amazing on “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and really made the role her own. We’d love to see how she’d handle herself going toe to toe with an angry Karl Urban. Are you familiar with Headey’s work? Do you think she’s a good choice? Related Posts |
| Jodie Foster to Preside Over Cesar Awards Posted: 11 Jan 2011 01:20 PM PST Robert De Niro wasn’t the only actor recently picked to be president of a high class awards ceremony. His Taxi Driver co-star Jodie Foster has been chosen to preside over France’s version of the Oscars the Cesar Awards, which take place on February 25th. Initially, you might think that she’s a strange choice but there are multiple things that contributed to Foster landing this gig.
Foster was partially raised in France and speaks the language fluently so she’ll have no problem understanding the ends and the outs of the ceremony. The star will also be in the country next month where she’ll be shooting the film God of Carnage. She has history, language, and location on her side. Foster happens to have more than one French feature on her acting resume including Eric Le Hung’s 1977 film Moi, Fleur Bleue, Claude Chabrol’s The Blood of Others in 1984 and Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s A Very Long Engagement in 2004. Foster is the first foreign President of the Cesar Awards since Marcello Mastroianni in 1993. When you add all of those factors, doesn’t she seem like a likelier candidate than most? What do you think of the Cesars picking Foster to preside over the ceremony? Is she a good choice? Source: Yahoo Related Posts |
| James Bond 23 Officially On! Craig’s Back, Mendes to Direct, Release Date Set Posted: 11 Jan 2011 12:41 PM PST After all the back and forth between MGM and EON Productions, the 23rd installment of the James Bond franchise has been confirmed. It’s happening and everyone is finally on the same page. According to a statement sent out by EON, they’ve confirmed Daniel Craig to star, Sam Mendes to direct, and a new release date.
“Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, together with Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, the Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., today announced that the 23rd James Bond film will have a worldwide release on November 9, 2012.” Mendes will direct from a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan, while Craig will once again breathe life into the agent. The reason it took so long for the film to get going was because of MGM’s bankruptcy and their failed auction of the studio. It’s the same reason The Hobbit was left in limbo, but thankfully Warner Bros picked up their slack. We’re still not sure who will distribute the new Bond film. More than likely the other major studios will end up fighting for it. Sony could win out over the rest of the bunch considering they previously distributed Casino Royale, but Paramount also has a shot because of their close relationship with Spyglass Entertainment, who helped with the Star Trek reboot. At this point we don’t care who distributes it as long as it gets out there. This has been going on for too long, and fans are ready to see Bond kick some ass and take names, while looking like an Armani model in the process! Do you think James Bond 23 will go off without a hitch? Source: Deadline Related Posts |

| New Terra Nova Photos Feature Stephen Lang Posted: 11 Jan 2011 11:13 AM PST Last week we got our first look at some photos from Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi series “Terra Nova.” For the most part the images were underwhelming and they didn’t show us the whole cast including villain Stephen Lang. Over at Coming Soon, they’ve gotten a hold of some official promotional photos that compensate for what the last batch of images lacked. Check them out…
While looking at these photos are we the only ones who think that Stephen Lang looks exactly like his character from Avatar? Was he taken directly from the set? All we see is Colonel Miles Quaritch here. According to 20th Century Fox, “Terra Nova” “will preview during a special two-night event Monday, May 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Tuesday, May 24 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox. The show will then premiere in the fall.” Official Synopsis:

| Kevin James’ Zookeeper Director to Helm His Martial Arts Film Posted: 11 Jan 2011 10:37 AM PST Kevin James‘ next film (no, we’re not talking about The Dilemma) will have him interacting with animals, and his project after that will involve him getting the crap kicked out of him every 15 minutes. The first movie is called Zookeeper, and the second is an untitled comedy about martial arts. James has decided to mix the two by hiring his Zookeeper director to helm his new action comedy.
According to Deadline, Frank Coraci, who previously helmed the Adam Sandler comedy Click has signed on to direct James in his next film. The actor will play “a physics teacher who moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter to raise money and save the music program his students love. He makes it all the way to the UFC.” The film will be produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Are we the only ones slightly unhinged by the thought of James fighting in the UFC? It’s no secret that the actor is a huge fan of the sport, but does he have what it takes? Is he going to slim down and bulk up? This should be interesting. What do you think of Coraci directing a martial arts flick? Do you think he’s the right choice? Related Posts |
| Posted: 11 Jan 2011 09:59 AM PST An international poster for Marvel’s upcoming feature Thor has hit the net. The new one sheet is being used to market the film to French audiences and it shows the title character (Chris Hemsworth) striking a pose with his infamous hammer. The image debuted over on the website Fantasy.fr, and it’s a slight step up from the domestic version we got a month ago.
In this version of the poster you get to see Thor’s face, in the domestic release all we got was his arm. Overall, neither image is anything to write home about. They’re nothing more than teasers, therefore we can’t wait until they release the theatrical and character posters. That’s when the sh*t will really hit the fan. Bring on Odin! Thor centers on a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth. Thor is scheduled to hit theaters next year on May 6, 2011 and will be in 3D. The film stars Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, and Clark Gregg.
