Doesn’t it seem like Jackass 3D came out just yesterday? The film debuted last fall with a whopping $50 million its opening weekend, and it went on to gross over $177 million worldwide. That’s quite a feat considering it only cost $20 million to make. When you take the financial success into consideration and pair it with the vast amount of leftover footage from the film, you realize that another movie wouldn’t be too far behind. The first trailer for Jackass 3.5 has hit the net and it’s a doozy. Check it out…

The Rite is a horror-thriller that’s based on actual events that occurred between two priests in Rome. The film is directed by Mikael Håfström and stars Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, and a young, Irish actor named Colin O’Donoghue. The duo are cast as an unlikely pair: the believer and the doubter, and as viewers we watch them fight a battle of spiritual warfare, while dealing with their own personal demons. Check out the review…
The Players:
The Plot:The Rite centers on a priest named Michael Kovak (O’Donoghue) who travels to Rome for exorcism training. He has serious doubts about his faith and his superiors hope that his new tutelage will restore it. He becomes the apprentice to a well-known but highly unconventional priest named Father Lucas Trevant (Hopkins), and through his experiences he learns the ugly truth about Satan, demons, and possession. The Good:
The So-So:
The Bad:
Overall:The Rite is a watered down exorcism film that provides a few inappropriate laughs, and some decent scares. Buy a ticket at your own risk. Rating: 6/10The Rite opens in theaters on January 28th. Photo Gallery: Trailer:

| Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor Join Charlie’s Angels Posted: 27 Jan 2011 03:59 PM PST
A couple weeks ago we learned that ABC had plans to reboot “Charlie’s Angels” for their network. They quickly began casting the primary roles, which included “General Hospital” alum Annie Ilonzeh. According to TVLine, they may have found the other two Angels in the form of The Roommate star Minka Kelly and Transformers Rachael Taylor.
Ilonzeh’s character is described as a very smart and very athletic ex-cop and a master of martial arts. She is the most serious of our 3 Angels but also knows how to let her hair down and have a great time. She’ll be joined by Kelly’s character Marisa, who’s a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-hand combat, and a neat freak. Taylor will play the youngest of the trio, Abby, the beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook. She is also a con artist, as well as a Krav Maga expert. We like all of the actors hired, but we’ll have to wait until we see photos and footage before we pass any real judgment. Everything is still in the early development stages. | Ice Cube and Ryan Seacrest Join New Year’s Eve – This Cast is Insane! Posted: 27 Jan 2011 03:16 PM PST
Earlier today we expressed our concern about the growing cast of Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve. The romantic comedy is becoming less of an ensemble and more of a free-for-all. This morning it was announced that Josh Duhamel had joined the cast and now THR is reporting that two more have signed on to co-star. Make room for Ice Cube and Ryan Seacrest everybody!
New Year's Eve centers on the intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through bittersweet drama and romance over the course of New Year's Eve. The various romances or non-romances will intersect and weave an overall plot laced with love and loss. Duhamel’s character is said to be a hopeless romantic who spends the day trying to get to New York in the hope of getting to a party in order to re-meet a mystery girl from the previous year. Cube will star as a police office who works with the director of the Times Square festivities (Hilary Swank), and Seacrest will make a cameo as himself (probably announcing the big event). We’re not sure how much the budget is for this film but it has to be outlandish. If not, everyone involved must really like Marshall or are working for peanuts. We already had concerns about the film from the beginning and now we’re just terrified of what the final product will look like. What do you think of the latest additions to Valentine’s Day? | Saoirse Ronan Cast in The Hobbit Posted: 27 Jan 2011 02:39 PM PST
Earlier today we learned that The Hobbit would undergo a slight production delay. Director Peter Jackson had a bit of a health scare and was required to undergo surgery for an ulcer. Even though that rained on our parade, we have something positive to make up for it. According to IFTN, Jackson’s The Lovely Bones star Saoirse Ronan has joined the cast of The Hobbit!
We seriously didn’t see this casting coming. Thus far, many of the stars featured in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy have been announced to reprise their roles including Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, and even Elijah Wood. Ronan’s character is currently unknown but casting director Ros Hubbard said the actress will have a great time during the shoot.
Hmm, but what does this all mean? For those of you who are familiar with The Hobbit, who could Ronan play? Perhaps the younger version of a female character from Lord of the Rings? What do you think of Ronan joining The Hobbit? Related Posts |

| Deadwood Creator David Milch to Pen Heavy Rain Adaptation Posted: 27 Jan 2011 11:40 AM PST
Are you familiar with the video game Heavy Rain? It’s available on PlayStation 3 and debuted in early 2010. The game has a story mode that mimics a thriller mixed with a dash of film noir. With that type of tone are you really surprised that Hollywood is gearing up to make a feature adaptation of it? According to Variety, the production company Unique Features has hired “Deadwood” creator David Milch to pen Heavy Rain: The Movie.
Heavy Rain “spans four days of mystery and centers on the hunt for a murderer known as the Origami Killer. Four characters, each following his own leads and with his own motives, take part in a desperate attempt to prevent the killer from claiming a new victim, with each character’s decisions affecting the plans of the other three.” Producer Bob Shaye is confident that Milch is the perfect person to adapt Heavy Rain for the film medium. “David Milch’s incredible ability to transform intense and complex storylines into gripping, popular drama makes him the perfect partner for us to have on ‘Heavy Rain,’ ” Shaye said. What do you think of Milch writing the script for Heavy Rain? Do you think he’s the right choice? Most Commented Posts |
| Oscar Nominees To Rule The Box Office Weekend Posted: 27 Jan 2011 11:21 AM PST This weekend Oscar nominated films, The King’s Speech, True Grit, and Black Swan will battle with last week’s box office winner, No Strings Attached, while new releases, The Rite and The Mechanic try to sneak their way into the top five…. And now for our box office predictions…
#1 The RiteThere was a time when Anthony Hopkins was a box office draw, and this month the actor is headlining the obligatory mid-winter horror/thriller. No matter how dull or unimpressive it might seem, the buzz for The Rite has increased over the past few days and it should be able to land at the #1 spot this weekend. Our Prediction: $14-16M Opening Weekend Box Office.
# 2 No Strings AttachedLast weekend, No Strings Attached was able to capitalize on the lack of competition and the Golden Globe win from Best Actress Natalie Portman. This weekend should be no different as the lack of competition, an Oscar nomination, and no new romantic comedies in sight (until Adam Sandler’s, Just Go With It), means No Strings Attached should hold onto the #2 spot this weekend. Our Prediction: $11-11.5M Weekend Box Office.
# 3 The King’s SpeechWith 12 Oscar Nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and a remarkable box office hold last weekend, The King’s Speech should be able to keep the momentum going to land at the # 3 spot this weekend. Our Prediction: $9 Weekend Box Office.
#4 The MechanicFrom Crank to The Transporter franchises, Jason Statham has developed a loyal fan base that has produced solid opening weekends. This weekend should be no different as the CBS Films release should open at the #4 spot . Our Prediction- $8M-8.5 Opening Weekend Box Office.
#5 The Green HornetWith direct competition from The Mechanic, a somewhat decent hold last weekend, The Green Hornet should slip to the #5 spot. Our Prediction: $7.5-8M Weekend Box Office.
Now for the rest of the top 10… #6 True GritOur Prediction: $6.5M Weekend Box Office. #7 Black SwanOur Prediction: $5.5-6M Weekend Box Office. #8 The DilemmaOur Prediction:$5M Weekend Box Office. #9 The FighterOur Prediction: $4M Weekend Box Office. #10 Yogi BearOur Prediction: $2.5M Weekend Box Office Related Posts |
| Josh Duhamel Joins New Year’s Eve Posted: 27 Jan 2011 10:41 AM PST
Someone make it stop. Someone please make the excessive casting stop! Another actor has joined Garry Marshall’s ensemble romantic comedy New Year’s Eve — Josh Duhamel. Just when we thought the roster couldn’t get any bigger The Wrap reports that the actor has just signed on for a part.
New Year's Eve centers on the intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through bittersweet drama and romance over the course of New Year's Eve. The various romances or non-romances will intersect and weave an overall plot laced with love and loss. There's been no word on who Duhamel will play or what his character will be up to. Thus far the cast of the film includes: Robert De Niro, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Zac Efron, Til Schweiger, and Seth Meyers. Oh wait, did we forget to mention that Jon Bon Jovi also has a role in this movie? Well, he does! How do you like them apples?! We’re pretty sure this cast is bigger than the ones featured in He's Just Not That Into You and Valentine’s Day combined. We’re truly terrified. | Javier Bardem Offered Lead in The Dark Tower Posted: 27 Jan 2011 08:57 AM PST
Do you remember yesterday when we said that Ron Howard was interested in Christian Bale as the lead in The Dark Tower? According to Deadline, that interest has shifted to another Oscar contender — Javier Bardem. The Spanish actor has officially been offered the role of the renegade gunslinger Roland Deschain.
The Dark Tower novels have been described as Stephen King's answer to JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The story follows Deschain, who's the last of his kind, as he wanders across dimensions and other worlds on an endless quest to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to be a nexus between worlds. Howard will direct the film trilogy based on the material, and he’ll also produce a limited run television series that will bridge the films. Howard and Universal Pictures have offered Bardem the Deschain lead and they’re optimistic about what his response. We like Bardem but can’t help but think that Viggo Mortensen would be a better choice for the part. Too bad he’s gearing up to play the Huntsman in the new Snow White adaptation. Are you ready to see Bardem step into his cowboy boots again? Are you excited about the film? Related Posts |
