| House: Season 7 Episode 9: Larger Than Life – TV Review Posted: 18 Jan 2011 04:41 AM PST
“House” returns from a holiday hiatus with a pretty run-of-the-mill episode. That’s not exactly a bad thing, since a decent episode of “House” is uually better than a good episode of a lot of other other shows, but after such a long break, fans were probably expecting something a little more compelling. Check out our review to see how we felt…
The Players
Episode Title: “Larger Than Life”A bassist for an obscure band looking for its big break jumps onto the tracks of the subway to save a woman who is having a seizure. They both survive, but the hero’s health appears to be compromised, landing him in the care of Dr. House and his team. In the meantime, House accidentally offends Cuddy’s mother, who he has been coerced into having dinner with for Cuddy’s birthday, and Taub enjoys the renewed sexual energy of his wife, which he first attributes to a Princeton-Plainsboro billboard featuring his face. However, he soon comes to the conclusion that there may be another source for her desire for intimacy. The Good:
The So-So:
The Bad:
Overall:There was nothing strikingly bad about the episode, but at the same time, there was nothing strikingly good. It was forgettable, the kind of episode you’ll skip over when you re-watch this season on DVD. Even a major turning point in Taub’s life towards the end of the episode falls pretty flat. But hey, it’s “House,” so there were worse ways to spend your Monday night. Rating: 6/10Photo Gallery: What did you think of last night’s episode? Tell us in the comments! Related Posts |
| First Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Photo Posted: 17 Jan 2011 05:30 PM PST
The first photo from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II has appeared online. It started making the rounds over the weekend as a black and white, watermarked image but now a color photo has been found and it features none other than Neville Longbottom. We doubt this is an official photo but it still gives us a peek into the bloody and dangerous finale. Take a look…
This photo comes courtesy of HPANA, and it shows us how down and dirty the final battle for Hogwarts will get. Here we have a shot of Longbottom, played by Matthew Lewis and he’s covered in blood and dirt. He looks as if he’s been in the fight of his life. If you pay close attention to the background, you can see Helena Bonham-Carter’s character Bellatrix Lestrange standing in the background. What’s she up to? OK Potter fans, it’s time to put your thinking caps on. For those of you who’ve read the book, where does this shot fit in the grand scheme of things? Do you have any idea where or when it takes place? Harry Potter Part II will be released in 3D and 2D on July 15, 2011. What do you think of the first photo from The Deathly Hallows Part II? | The Weekend Box Office Results-Our Take Posted: 17 Jan 2011 04:53 PM PST
After it was all said and done The Green Hornet opened slightly below my prediction to open at #1 with $33.7M, while The Dilemma bombed with $17.8M, and True Grit held strong at #3 with $10.9M. Now on to the rest of the top 10…
The enormous theater expansions for both The Black Swan & The King’s Speech helped both films respective box office takes soar pushing them past my box office predictions and moving The Fighter down two spots. A slew of holiday leftovers were able to post modest declines as Yogi Bear held strong with a small decline as it was the only real option for adults to take their children to, while Little Fockers/Tron continued to under-perform. I believed Country Strong would have held a little better at the box office due to Gwyneth Paltrow’s appearance on SNL as well as her rumored duet with Cee-Lo(which did not occur) of his song “Forget You,” but in this case it did not. Rounding out the rest was Nicolas Cage’s The Season Of The Witch which tumbled in its second weekend but was still able to manage to finish inside the top 10 . This was above my prediction that it would it would fall out of the top ten completely, showing that people still want to see Cage in films ,and hopefully his upcoming Drive Angry will perform somewhat better. Well, that’s all for now folks! Stay tuned for this week’s Box Office Predictions. - Show quoted text - Related Posts |
| Jon and Erich Hoeber Hired to Write RED Sequel Posted: 17 Jan 2011 04:41 PM PST
The Golden Globe nomination for RED gave it a serious boost in commercial appeal. The Summit Entertainment production made over a $100 million at the worldwide box office, and the unexpected nod was just icing on the cake. Now according to Collider, we can expect more geriatric hijinks to ensue because the studio has rehired RED screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber to pen a sequel!
The site claims that Summit has commissioned the Hoebers to deliver another script for a RED sequel, but they haven’t given the project a green light. Everything is very much in the early stages. They also have to think about convincing the rest of the cast to sign on for another movie. The chemistry between the veteran actors was integral to the story. If they do go through with a follow up, we think they should confirm as many people and green light the sequel immediately. The steam from the Golden Globes won’t last long. Plus, the actors have more than their fair share of projects to occupy their time. Isn’t Bruce Willis gearing up for Die Hard 5? What do you think of RED 2? Does the film need a sequel? | Liam McIntyre Replacing Andy Whitfield in Spartacus: Blood and Sand Posted: 17 Jan 2011 03:56 PM PST
We knew it would happen sooner than later. The folks over at Starz along with the creators and producing team of “Spartacus: Blood & Sand” have found a replacement for actor Andy Whitfield. Whitfield played the title role in the breakout action drama, but due to health problems, he had to be replaced. Allow us to introduce you to your new Spartacus — Liam McIntyre!
Back in November, three actors were put on the shortlist for Whitfield’s position. The lucky trio consisted of Aiden Turner (from "All My Children"), Canadian Stephen Amell, (Closing the Ring) and Australian Liam McIntyre ("The Pacific"). The latter of the group obviously beat out the competition to land the role. Starz has sent out an official press release announcing his casting.
The fact that Whitfield gave his blessing to the actor and the show, proves that he’s a class act. The series won’t be the same without him. He truly was one of kind. Production on “Spartacus: Blood & Sand” is slated to resume for season two in the spring of 2011. Good Luck, Liam! You’ve got big sandals to fill. What do you think of the new Spartacus? Is he the right choice? Source: Coming Soon Related Posts |
| New Trailer for HBO’s Game of Thrones Posted: 17 Jan 2011 03:36 PM PST
HBO has just given a major boost to the marketing campaign for their new series “Game of Thrones.” The series is based on the fantasy novels written by George R. R. Martin and have been adapted for television by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. The latest trailer for the show concentrates of the characters and the power struggles between them. Check it out…
Between “Game of Thrones” and “Camelot” on Starz, we’re not sure what new show we want to watch. Both of them contain elements of fantasy, both feature greed and desire, but only one of them has a bad ass white wolf. That’s something “Game of Thrones” has the upper hand with. It also stars Lena Headey and Sean Bean, which by themselves are two reasons to tune in! Synopsis:
“Game of Thrones” will premiere on HBO on April 17. What do you think of the new trailer for the show? Are you interested? Related Posts |
| Is The Green Hornet The Next Daredevil?? Posted: 17 Jan 2011 03:13 PM PST
When Daredevil opened in February of 2003, it had been fending off months of bad buzz ranging from the choice of Ben Affleck, to middling reviews to picking a director who had never helmed a big budget action comedy based on a semi known comic book property before. Sound like the case of The Green Hornet? Just like The Green Hornet, Daredevil was able to fight back against bad buzz, open to a solid number one opening , go on to gross nearly $200M worldwide and even spawn a spin off based on Jennifer Garner’s character, Elektra.
Like Daredevil, The Green Hornet was an early-mid winter action comedy based on a semi known comic book property that went on to have a somewhat solid first weekend opening. How did both Daredevil and The Green Hornet make such a miraculous turn around you ask? They both immersed themselves into various pop culture lexicons to obtain positive buzz. Daredevil had a hit song from the then hugely popular goth music pop group, Evanescence to The Green Hornet garnering positive buzz amongst the highly influential film blogger set by offering secret test screenings which quickly turned to positive chatter. Where The Green Hornet goes from here is anyone’s guess. Will it spawn a sequel? A spin-off? Only time will tell in the weekends to come. Related Posts |
| Photos: Taylor Lautner in Abduction, Scream 4, The Hangover 2, Julianne Hough in Footloose Posted: 17 Jan 2011 02:43 PM PST
Have you been waiting to see what Taylor Lautner will look like in his upcoming movie Abduction? Are you interested in seeing another outlandish image from the comedy The Hangover Part II? How about a telling photo from the long awaited horror sequel Scream 4? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you’re in luck! We’ve got exactly what you’re looking for below. Take a look…
Above you can see the first official photo from Abduction, which features Lautner in a life or death situation. Who is he hiding from? Release Dates:
The photos for The Hangover Part II are getting more and more disturbing. The first one featured the group in a bathroom with a monkey, and in this photo, said monkey is sitting on Phil’s (Bradley Cooper) shoulder, while he’s trying to break into a freezer. And while all of this is going on — where’s Doug? The photo of Julianne Hough from Footloose looks like a great update of Lori Singer’s character from the original. She’s got that attractive country girl look down to a science. Everything else looks pretty standard. How many times have we seen a character from Scream hold up a knife in their hand? That photo could have been pulled from any of the previous films and we wouldn’t have known the difference. What do you think of this new batch of photos? What film are you the most excited to see? | Halle Berry Dismisses Aretha Franklin Biopic Rumors Posted: 17 Jan 2011 01:53 PM PST
Music legend Aretha Franklin recently revealed her interest in producing a biopic based on her eventful life. When asked who she’d like to play her in the film, she replied Halle Berry. According to THR, the singer called into “The Wendy Williams Show” where she revealed her feature plans and her casting choice.
Here’s what Franklin had to say:
It didn’t take long for Franklin’s announcement to make its way to Berry. While on the red carpet at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards, the actress was asked about the movie, and whether or not she was interested. She replied, “If I could carry a tune, I’d consider it,” she says. “Someone should tell Aretha that I can’t do her justice.” The last time we checked, producers could use pre-recorded music for films. Berry’s probably just not interested. Who do you think should play Aretha Franklin in her biopic? Source: Zap2it Related Posts |
| New Kung Fu Panda 2 Poster Packs a Punch! Posted: 17 Jan 2011 01:17 PM PST
A new poster has been released for DreamWorks Animation’s highly anticipated sequel Kung-Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom. The film marks the return of Jack Black and Angelina Jolie, as well as the addition of a few new voices such as Jean-Claude Van Damme and Gary Oldman. Back in November we got a sneak peek at a teaser trailer for the film and now we’ve got an amazing new one-sheet! Take a look…
We like this poster. It reminds us of something else but we can’t put our finger on it. Do you know of a poster that has a similar angle and action? This can’t be the only one. We like how they’re all charging towards one thing. They’re all headed towards the release date! Official Synopsis:
Kung Fu Panda 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2011 and it will be in 3D. What do you think of the new poster for Kung-Fu Panda 2? Source: Coming Soon Related Posts |
| Lee Byung-hun’s Storm Shadow to Return in G.I. Joe 2 Posted: 17 Jan 2011 12:47 PM PST
He’s back! Lee Byung-hun who starred as the ninja Storm Shadow in 2009’s G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra will reprise his role for the sequel. According to THR, the casting news was revealed via the actor’s agency, which we find interesting. Why didn’t that studio (Paramount) release the info? Is this legit?
[Spoilers] If you saw Rise of Cobra, you know that Storm Shadow’s fate was sealed with dramatic drop into a dark hole. He supposedly died at the end of a battle with his former peer Snake Eyes (Ray Park), making him one of the few casualties that the film had to offer. A lot of the other characters were seriously injured or mutilated but left alive. G.I. Joe 2 is currently in development but no real details have been released regarding the plot. The studio hired Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to pen the screenplay for the follow up, which won’t be directed by Stephen Sommers. He unfortunately won’t be reprising his role with the film. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra grossed $302 million worldwide, which was more than enough to warrant a sequel. The film also had an open ending that alluded to a new villain. What do you think of Storm Shadow’s return to G.I. Joe? Related Posts |

Over the weekend, two high resolution photos debuted online from the upcoming Marvel film, Captain America: The First Avenger. Last week, Marvel released promo images from their other tentpoles, Spider-Man and Thor, so we not surprised that Captain America has gotten thrown into the mix. Check out Chris Evans in action below…
Captain America has always been one of the campier superheros in Marvel lore. His costume says it all. It’s interesting that both The First Avenger and Thor will be released back to back considering their characters have the most superhuman elements out of The Avengers team. They’re a perfect pair. Official Synopsis:
Captain America is scheduled to open in theaters on July 22, 2011. What do you think of the new photos from Captain America? Source: Coming Soon Related Posts |
